Jan Hemmelman
Human Factors Engineer

As a Human Factors Engineer at Loring HF, Jan is responsible for leading a variety of projects, but with an increased focus on Artificial Intelligence, SaMD and consumer products. With previous experience as a Human Factors consultant applying best practices in the healthcare sector, Jan devotes his time to increasing safety and usability overall.


Jan moved to the United States in 2018 after finishing his Master’s degree in Human Factors and Engineering Psychology, which allows him to apply a deeper understanding of human cognition to his work. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Twente in the Netherlands.


Jan is an eternally curious person, with an eye for detail and an aptitude for learning new things quickly. He enjoys a wide variety of sports, such as hiking, surfing, running, and skiing. Jan applies his scientific approach outside of work asa hobby chef, barista and sourdough baker. At his home in Rhode Island, Jan expresses his creativity with audio engineering, photography, and gardening.
